Jordi Ferrer (BIAP faculty member, UdG)
In May 2025, Marcial Pons Publisher released the report “Legal Certainty for Human Development: Challenges in Ibero-America” on the challenges of strengthening legal security in Ibero-American countries. The report, commissioned by the Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB), was prepared by Ferrer and three other researchers from the Chair of Legal Culture and was publicly presented at the conference “Challenges of Legal Security in Ibero-America,” held at SEGIB headquarters in Madrid on 21 May 2025. The report analyzes the challenges to legal certainty posed by a variety of phenomena, including digital transformation and artificial intelligence, organized crime, the concentration of populations in large megacities, and the need to enhance the training of administrative and judicial authorities for more effective law enforcement. Cella, Grassi, and Rosola have contributed to the development of the Egalia Project, a non-profit initiative dedicated to promoting gender-fair language. Egalia provides a text correction tool to edit out excluding expressions in Italian, offering alternatives with explanations to assist users in choosing between them (thereby also increasing awareness), and it evolves based on user needs. The project was selected for the SantanderX Explorer program, with the support of StartUB. Between February and April, the project took part in the SantanderX Explorer pre-incubator program. In May 2025, Egalia was selected, following a pitching contest, to receive training and support for launching a crowdfunding campaign (LINK). From October 14 to November 14, 2025, Egalia’s crowdfunding campaign was active on the SantanderX platform. Out of more than 6,000 projects that applied to the program, only 60 were selected for the crowdfunding stage.
