BIAP’s current governance structure comprises a Scientific Director, a Director, a Project Manager, a Scientific Advisory Board, and four committees: the Executive Committee, the Program Executive Committee, the Gender Action and Ethics Committee, and the Scientific Committee.

BIAP’s Scientific Avisory Board (SAB) is a 3-person panel of international experts who meet with BIAP leaders and researchers periodically and provide feedback and advice about the Institute’s functioning in general, and in particular concerning the María de Maeztu Strategic Program.

The Executive Committee (EC) is formed by 2 members from each of the 3 participating universities. They are officially designated by their respective universities, in agreement with the relevant groups. The EC is responsible for the running of the Institute, in conjunction with the Scientific Director, and the Director. It defines BIAP’s research priorities, approves BIAP-based research activities, and allocates resources to the different groups.

BIAP’s Gender Action & Ethics Committee (GAEC) was established to monitor the Institute’s recruitment processes, in particular the hiring of predocs and postdocs in the María de Maeztu Strategic Program, in order to ensure that the Institute’s commitments to equality, fairness and transparency are respected.
