This cooperation conference aims to promote collaboration between BIAP and METIS, another major Spanish research group in analytic philosophy based in Madrid (UNED). The conference will explore questions on evidence, communication, and cognition from an empirically informed perspective. Possible topics include but are not limited to: experimental investigations of norms of assertion and other epistemologically significant speech acts; the broader impact of bias and heuristics on communication and cognition, and their more specific influence on the gathering and assessment of evidence; philosophical and empirical perspectives on socially relevant instances of communication (including science and risk communication); empirically informed discussions of mental state ascriptions; and many more.

The conference will cover topics of potential interest to several BIAP members working across different work packages. These include: Evidence in Epistemology (WP1), Evidence in Philosophy of Mind (WP4), Evidence and Philosophical Method (WP5), and, to a lesser extent, Evidence in Science (WP3). A related goal of the conference is to foster further collaboration and encourage synergies among the members of the Institute.

Further details will be provided in due course.
